The Mykonos and Ibiza private villa concierge guide
A private villa on Mykonos or Ibiza is only as good as the brief you give the concierge before you land. The Le Privé desk sets out the week it books every summer, from provisioning to the last table at Dalt Vila, and the linen wardrobe that runs through it.

The brief, sent before you land
The difference between a villa week that runs and one that stalls is a single document sent to the concierge or the villa manager a week before arrival. The Le Privé desk writes the same brief every summer. It lists the party and their rooms; the provisioning for the first two days, down to the water, the coffee and the wine; the boat and the days it is needed; the restaurants, in order of priority, with the time and the table preference; the staffing, meaning a chef on which nights and a housekeeper at which hours; and the cars, because on both islands the villa is almost never within walking distance of anything.
On Mykonos the estates the desk books sit on the quieter west and south-west of the island, around Agios Lazaros, Aleomandra and the hills above Ornos, with the sunset in front of the pool. On Ibiza they sit above Es Cubells and Cala Jondal, with Es Vedrà on the horizon, or inland around Santa Gertrudis. The brief changes a little by island; the discipline does not.
Mykonos: the boat day and the Psarou table
A Mykonos week turns on the boat. A rib or a small motor yacht from the harbour at Ornos or from Platis Gialos takes the party round to the south coast beaches, to the clear water off Rhenia or to the lee of Delos when the Meltemi is blowing, and it is the only way to see the island without the road. The concierge books it and provisions it. The wardrobe for the boat day is linen and nothing else: a swimsuit, a white linen shirt, linen trousers or a short, a straw hat that ties, sandals that can get wet.
Lunch is at Nammos on Psarou or, when the party wants music, at Scorpios on Paraga. Both are booked days ahead in August and both are stricter about dress than the setting suggests. The desk moves from the boat to the table in the same linen with a dress or a shirt-dress added; Jacquemus’ short, sculpted La Robe Saudade is the one on the Le Prive Network boutique list that goes straight from a sunbed at Psarou to a table without a change, and it packs flat.

The evening is Chora: a car to the edge of the old town, then on foot through the lanes to Little Venice for the sunset and a long dinner somewhere behind the windmills. The linen gets one upgrade here, a silk shirt or a slip dress, a heeled sandal, a small bag.
On both islands the villa wardrobe is three pieces of linen worn in different orders. Everything else is sandals and a bag.
Ibiza: the cliff, the sunset and Dalt Vila
Ibiza runs on the sunset and on the table booked for an hour after it. The cliff estates above Es Cubells put the sunset in front of the pool, and the desk’s brief for the first evening is always the same: a chef at the villa, a long table on the terrace, nobody in a car. From the second night the island opens up. Cala Jondal for a beach-club afternoon at Blue Marlin or at the quieter end of the bay; Cala Comte for the sunset with the small islands in front of it; a drive to the north for dinner at La Paloma in Sant Llorenç, under the orange trees; and one evening inside the walls of Dalt Vila, the old town above the harbour, where the restaurants sit in the old bastions and the walk up is steep enough to decide the shoe.
Linen trousers are the Ibiza answer to almost every one of these evenings. Wide, cut high, in white, sand or black, worn with a knitted vest or a silk shirt and flat leather sandals, they go from the villa to Santa Gertrudis to the harbour without looking like resort wear. The Row makes the quietest version, which is why the desk keeps it on the list for a week where the point is to look as if no effort was made.

The villa staff and the honest wardrobe
A villa with a chef, a housekeeper and a driver changes how you dress at home. The desk’s rule is that the house wardrobe is as considered as the one that leaves the gate: a linen shirt rather than a T-shirt at breakfast, a cotton robe rather than a towel on the terrace, a sandal rather than a flip-flop at the dinner table. The house runs better when the party dresses as if it is a house and not a hotel room.
Shoes are the one category the desk over-packs. Flat leather sandals for the villa and the lanes, a sandal that can take salt water for the boat and the beach clubs, a low heel for Chora and Dalt Vila, and a woven leather pair that is correct at any table on either island. Bottega Veneta’s woven sandals are the pair that come out of the bag most often, because the intrecciato is recognisable to the people who care and invisible to everyone else.

The checklist the desk sends
For a seven-night private villa week on either island the Le Privé desk sends the concierge: a room plan; a two-day provisioning list and a standing order for water, ice, fruit and coffee; the boat days with departure times and the beach-club reservations attached; a restaurant list in priority order with table preferences; the chef nights and the menus or the dietary notes; the driver hours; the airport transfers with flight numbers; and a note on who in the party signs for what. The trunk holds three linen shirts, two pairs of linen trousers, two dresses, three swimsuits, a silk shirt, a slip dress, a cotton robe, a straw hat, four pairs of sandals and one bag.
